Day 2

I feel ok about day 2. It's familiar but nonetheless it's a G beat though. Again solid production and evident skill with it. You sick on the beats. Good shit.

Good.

Ion never just dig wit samples really cuz it's the easy way out. But you know if that's ya thing go ahead you do it well. Nice track. Good production value. Solid form in general. Keep it up man.

Aight it's nice.

The string work is real fly. You could have beefed up the percussion a little bit and maybe flossed up the chords changes having something like a harp back up the piano or something. Good track though. I likes it! Let's see what you do next!

That's Wasup.

Again.

I did not know you had such a musical talent in you man! This piece is beautiful , gorgeous even. It's ambient but all at the same time very Epic. Excuted flawlessly. I could write a seriously long review as I do, and can do most times but I don't think it's necessary. This song is excellent! Excellent! You know I will mail you a full review later because right now I just have to listen and really grasp what I want to say. I love it though. The flute...and piano are so lyrical. Great music here. Great.

Suspended-3rd-Chord responds:

Thanks for the very kind comments! I'm really glad you like this one :D

"Why don't you ever tell me to review!?"

Let's get right into it. First off i would like to say I love the theme of it. It's very nice and the intro was good but not quite where I would have had it! And arghh i hate to say that but i didn't like the sudden transition with the shaker there. And(this may just be my ears) the shaker also seems leaned for some reason to the left. But don't listen to that to much because my ears are naturally unbalanced but a bit of the percussion seems tilted. As far as the percussion goes my only serious complaint is the start of it. Other then that the percussion is very surreal and true.

On the melodic side this is a very intriguing an deep song. I really enjoyed it from start to finish as Eastern music is generally my favorite style of all time. This one is very good. Very good with minor set backs but nothing overally serious that takes away from the quality of it. My final word would say sometimes it seemed almost empty in the background but only sometimes. Great track though. Very professional and melodically deep and satisfying. I bet we could make one hell of a classical song. Think about it. Wonderful piece though.

Suspended-3rd-Chord responds:

Well I never ask people to review back, because I just like to review for pleasure and just the response from the author is enough reward me. So thanks a lot for posting that good response yesterday! It inspires me to keep on reviewing when I now people really appreciate what I do...

but of course, when people review back, that's very nice of course! I appreciate your review tremendously :)

I see what you're saying about the intro. The sudden transition was inspired by the game God of War. Think of the intro as one of those short phrases that are commonly used in video games when you gain a life, finish a challenge, unlock a secret, etc. In God of War, the composers designed short sections with powerful chords that would be used to introduce grand new levels and such, and then go back into the more calm musical themes. In this case, the intro was to represent possibly the sand falling of the sphinx, and the next section he(she?) starts slowly walking (and when the percussion breaks into 16ths, my intentions was for the castanets to represent people running away from the sphinx).

As for the instrument spacing, you are most likely right. Your mixing skills are way better than mine. I was trying to emulate the symphony at my chuirch, where the percussion is placed all the way to the right , so that was the reason for the "extreme" panning attempts. I thought my panning in my previous tracks weren't full enough, so I might of went a bit overboard here. I should really learn the mathematics behind it so I can realistically space.

I'm glad you like the themes. I would have to say eastern music is my favorite style too. I just wish I had some authentic sounding eastern instruments :/

Yes, at times it does feel a bit empty, I probably should have focused on intergrating less themes and building more harmony instead of the octave stabs and runs. There is indeed multiple minor setbacks in here, which is probably because I've never learnt how to classicaly compose for even a duet :P

You really would want to collab with me? I'd love to man! :D

And thanks a lot for the review and criticism LastEncore! I like all reviews, but reviews like this are especially fun to read because I can talk about elements in the song and learn :)

Like this one to! I can't believe you use all those patterns though. In my latest song I have a grand total of like 3 patterns. But i guess that's because I use my FL Studio kinda different though. Anyway enough about my music. i do like with the song is doing and such and it's pretty catchy and still sounds professional even still. Though the ending is....questionable at best. Do something about that ending! Other then that it's got all the elements it needs and remains subtle even still. Nice track man.

DJ-VIZ responds:

Yeah the ending is a little weak... 3 patterns? I could never do that lol... thanks for the review!

Moans!? Whow. The upside to this is it sounds very original over all the other trance here for the most part. It's very refreshing actually to hear this. It has good transitional work<which is my major gripe with most songs. Only thing I would note is that is feels kind of empty at times like there should be some kind of background sound filling the void in the back. But I'm not saying go put something back there. Song is good. Very nice original track arranged nicely. I'm gonna go listen to more! Nice.

I would have given it a 10...but it just seems to be missing something, I don't know what exactly though..very nice track though

~Encore

DJ-VIZ responds:

I guess the feeling of it missing something is a personal opinion -- I know how you feel, which is why later in the song I added a pad and a few other instruments to put it together better. Thanks for the rev again!

BLah.

I don't know what to say really. It's true to itself I guess. But I really don't like it that much. The trance bleeps and electric drive bass in the bank are just weird but there are elements that are nice touches suc as 1:09 that make me very nostalgic and sounds pretty nice and is complex enough to make and/or duplicate. Just uh do more with it. I'm not sure right now what to advise you as far as because I haven't heard the original in who the hell knows how long. But it's not bad. Though.

pastabilities responds:

how the fuck can you be nostalgic to a game thats been available for only four years?!

I can see the patterns in these now...

I guess as your second song you get leniency but just because it's your second song doesn't mean it can't be in tune. There's dissonance and chord clashes all over the place not to mention the ending is, no where to be found. Come on! So uhh tune it up and give it a form...then we'll talk about chords, transitions, articulation, progressions and stuff like that...come on man. Good for practice though. You have to start somewhere!

AltoPowder responds:

I've never done any music courses, or anything. I only studied music for 1 year when I was 11-12, which was no use to me. I have to make my music from trial and error, and it's quite hard. Thanks for the crititism though.

Just doing music like always...
